About The Role

Working pattern: This is a full-time post however we are happy to talk about flexible working. This role is available to candidates who are interested in a hybrid model of working with the opportunity to work at Holyrood, Edinburgh and remotely.  

This is a new role within the People & Culture Group to support the development, implementation and ongoing delivery of workforce metrics to support workforce planning, performance reporting and evidence-based decision making.   

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative individual with a passion for data analytics to join the People Services and Diversity & Inclusion Office, working alongside our People Partners to design people solutions that support our strategic change objectives.  You’ll play a lead role in developing our People Analytics function, working with managers to assess their requirements and using your extensive knowledge of data analytics and visualisation to ensure the delivery of a high quality service. 

 Reporting to the People & Change Partner, you’ll be responsible for:
 
  • Developing and maintaining a schedule of workforce dashboards and producing ad-hoc people analytics to support data driven and insight led decisions
  • Engaging with senior leaders to understand their requirements for people analytics, working with them to extract insights and identify trends from the data and develop business focussed solutions 
  • Using data visualisation skills, produce reports and make presentations involving presenting complex information in a clear and concise manner adapted to suit a range of audiences
  • Contribute to the design, implementation and measurement of people solutions, policies and initiatives and take a lead role in the development of our people systems and processes

About You

You’ll have experience of working in an analytics capacity within a people/payroll function and have well developed data visualisation skills.  A track record of using Excel to an advanced level and knowledge of digital tools which support data management and visualisation are essential.  A working knowledge of the People/Human Resources function and processes and how data can support the development of people strategies and policies is a key requirement for this role. 

You’ll be a strong advocate for evidence-based decision making, working with Group Heads, Office Heads and Team Leaders to understand their people analytics requirements and translate this into data products which support decision making.   

You’ll use your ability to analyse large amounts of data from multiple sources to enable you to extract insights, identify trends and use data visualisation techniques to develop a narrative and present your findings to a variety of audiences.  You’ll have a track record of developing creative solutions which are aligned to business requirements and of presenting your findings and making recommendations at a senior level.

The Selection Process

Stage 1

  • Each value should be clearly formatted, and your examples may include specific skills, experience, abilities, knowledge and strengths you have
  • We have a separate box on our system for you to input each value
  • Please do not input anything into the values boxes until you’re ready to submit your application
  • Please complete your answers to the questions offline, perhaps in Word, and then copy and paste your answers into the system when you're ready to submit your application
  • We recommend that you check your answers, by reading the inputted information in the box, when you've copied and pasted the information into the system, just to ensure it's all there
  • Please only click 'Next' to submit your application when you're content it’s complete. When you click “Next”, you don't have the option to go back
  • If you 'cancel' then your work won't be saved
  • The system will time out after an hour and your work will be lost if you don’t complete it in that time. You don't have the option to save your application and return to it later
  • If the system times out, you can go into your ‘candidate profile’ to access and complete your statement

Please note that only your supporting statement will be submitted to Hiring Managers, without any personal details, and they will then select candidates for further assessment or interview.

 

Stage 2 

At the final stage, you’ll be invited to attend a virtual panel interview.  Interviews will be held week beginning 31 October, although this is subject to change.
