About The Role

Temporary, 2 years fixed term. 


The Lobbying (Scotland) Act 2016 was passed by the Parliament in 2016 to increase the public transparency of communications made between organisations which lobby MSPs, the Scottish Government’s Ministers, Special Advisers and Permanent Secretary.  

This is an excellent opportunity to join the Lobbying Register Team as its Communications and Compliance Support Manager. Currently, the Lobbying Register Team is made up of 4 staff and is responsible for the day-to-day administration and compliance relating to the Register, which now has over 1200 active organisations.  The office sits within the Engagement and Communications Group.  This is a new role which has been created to support efforts to further manage compliance matters under the Act and assist with resource implications flowing from work now underway to review the current legislation on regulated lobbying.  

As Communications and Compliance Support Manager you’ll directly manage our Communications and Compliance Assistants and will play a key role in ensuring the team’s responsibility for the Lobbying Register. This involves dealing with instances of regulated lobbying being submitted by registered organisations, compliance with the Act, and providing advice and assistance to organisations that are registered, or looking to register, on the Lobbying Register.

The Selection Process

Stage 1

    • Please provide evidence against each of our four values, a maximum of 400 words is allowed per value

    • Each value should be clearly formatted, and your examples may include specific skills, experience, abilities, knowledge and strengths you have
    • We have a separate box on our system for you to input each value
    • Please do not input anything into the values boxes until you’re ready to submit your application.

Stage 2  

At the final stage, you’ll be invited to attend a virtual panel interview Interviews will be held on 26 September, although this is subject to change.
