About The Role

Working pattern: This is a full-time post; however, we are happy to talk about flexible working  

The Broadcasting Office holds the essential role of providing full transparency of Parliament activities and is responsible for televising all public proceedings and events in the Scottish Parliament. It provides live and on demand feeds from the six committee rooms, the Debating Chamber and remote locations for national and international media organisations, and live streaming on www.scottishparliament.tv and on a range of online channels.

In addition to parliamentary business, the Scottish Parliament hosts an extensive range of televised and webcast public events, requiring substantial planning and a creative approach to television coverage. This is a varied and exciting role and you’ll have experience of working in a professional broadcast environment.

About You

You’ll have a key role in ensuring the integrity of the broadcast baseband and through leadership you’ll strive to create a centre of excellence in broadcast and online media via talent management, championing good engineering practices and developing domain expertise.

You’ll encourage a culture where your team members are empowered to deliver high quality work which will enhance the reputation of the Parliament. You’ll also champion collaborative working with colleagues across the parliamentary service, promoting positive and open communication, helping meet the Scottish Parliament’s digital ambitions.

As a Manager you’ll be resilient and inspire colleagues to deliver high performance results in line with our values. You’ll have a proven track record of working inclusively with a diverse range of people and groups. You’ll have outstanding mentoring and coaching skills and be passionate about contributing to an inclusive and collaborative working culture which values diversity and encourages openness.

Our Selection Process

Stage 1

Click 'apply' and this will allow you to register and answer 3 questions against the essential criteria. You should also upload your CV and provide a supporting statement.

Your CV should be no more than 2 pages, in Word or equivalent format, setting out your career history, responsibilities and achievements.

Your statement should outline your suitability for the role with reference to the main duties and key requirements set out in the job description. We would expect this to be around 2 pages in length. Please upload your CV and statement as one document. 

Your application will be assessed based on your CV and statement.

Stage 2

At the final stage, you’ll be invited to attend a face to face panel interview. We’ll also ask you to prepare a presentation. These are scheduled week commencing 23rd March 2020.

Feedback will only be provided on request to those who attend interview.
